Artists Organizations in the United States and US Dependent Areas and Independent Nations

Resources and advice for Artists. (More resources will be added as they become available. If you would like to volunteer web services on this project your help would be greatly appreciated! It is a huge grass roots fraternal organization. Members are welcome to help with research and web services.)

The Gulf State Artists and Creative business are in desperate need of OUR support. Please pass the word along that AAG has easy to follow listings, many non-profit and tax-deductible.

With the resources here you can contact and work with individuals and groups directly.

Many are at risk of losing a business or a home.
It would take so little to save their CREATIVE BUSINESS or home: possibly just a business loan or property tax payment.
(If you are in need and would like to be added to our list of artist's and organizations in need, drop (AAG) a note describing your Artist owned business or organization and your specific need.) You will then be contacted shortly.

Alliance of Artists Communities (AAC)

A nation-wide consortium and professional organization for the field, advances the role artist communities play in the evolution of new ideas and art.

There are places—hundreds of them, in fact—where artists can go simply to work on their art. They go by many names: artists communities, colonies, retreats, and residencies, but they all share a common purpose. Whether for a week or a year or more, these places exist to support the creation of new work and risk-taking in environments rich in stimulation and fellowship. In short, they are the Research — Development department of the creative culture.

Artist doesn't tell the whole story. Those served by these residencies are creative individuals of all kinds: visual and performing artists, composers and choreographers, playwrights and poets, creative and scholarly writers, architects and designers, historians, ecologists, scientists, and more.

The Comedy Soapbox
The Comedy Soapbox was founded by comedians Danny McDermott and Steve Hofstetter, to help bring comedians to a larger audience and a larger audience to comedians.
The Comedy Soapbox was founded BY comedians, FOR comedians, so that they could help each other and increase the opportunities for living their dreams and developing their art. The hope is that pooling the resources, creative advertising, and the support of the community will create a foundation strong enough to accomplish three things.
  • 1) To always give comedians more stage time to explore and develop.
  • 2) To help expand the public's view or definition of Stand Up Comedy as not just a form of entertainment, but an Art Form.
  • 3) To make Stand Up more accessible for everyone.

The Soapbox also now features an open mic night, road shows, and many resources for comedians like a calendar system for all tour dates and discounts on necessary products. And the Soapbox is still comic friendly - providing comedians with amenities like a revolutionary online booking system, working towards a Best of the Soapbox CD, and of course, providing stage time.

The Art List was started by Ken Schweizer, an oil painter from Hartford, CT, who had become so frustrated with wasting time scouring the Internet for art competitions that he decided to do something about it. His mission was to create a database of all the contests he could find. Ken turned his findings into a website called THE ART LIST, an extensive digest of contest listings from all over the United States and abroad. Each month, THE ART LIST emails out a newsletter with directions on how to access the current contests database. ..."
